Take a number is book number 4 in the wait for me series. Throughout the series we know Dean Moser as a playboy who does not want anything to do with commitment. Norah Donahue is the owner of a bakery that is about to make its way into a franchise and has no room in her life for a relationship, but her mom is trying to play matchmaker for her parents wedding anniversary; so Norah looks to dean to be her fake boyfriend to get her mom off her back and it benefits Dean for getting his friends off his back for Kates wedding.
Throughout the book lines get blurred for these two and feelings start to get real. It was nice seeing Dean get jealous of Nate, as well as Deans friends caring about him enough to want to be there for him through his spiral and knowing why he is the way he is. This book gives great prospective on how having toxic relationship with parents can affect your self-worth and views on life and relationships. I also love how the ending went, most romance novels end up with proposals and babies and the fact that Norah was determined to be everything she aspired to be and follow her dreams with or without Dean by her side, that being single doesn't mean you are a failure; something her mom needed some time to learn.
This book had humor, steam, and swoon. The only thing I really wish there were more of was groveling from Dean before his big gesture. He said some real hurtful things and I think he should have tried with his words before he did what he did.
“You would be my best customer if you didn’t make it your life’s mission to get on my nerves.”
